Do the same to pets with EyeOn Pet Monitor

When we write about D-Link products, it's usually because the company revealed some new router or other, but there's more to the brand than that. Case in point, the outfit recently unveiled surveillance cameras for worried and doting parents.

D-Link's EyeOn product line isn't exactly new, but it has just received three new members. Two of them are intended for the surveillance of your baby and are called DCS-820L EyeOn Baby Monitor Junior Plus and DCS-800L EyeOn Baby Monitor Junior.

The third one, intended for pets, is named DCS-800L/P EyeOn Pet Monitor.

How baby monitors usually work

Surveillance systems are one thing, but baby monitors don't usually provide you with the chance to actually take a look into your kids' room or nursery. Not from across town or your workplace anyhow. In fact, apps that relay information usually transmit the noises, or alert you in case of noises.

The new EyeOn Baby monitors, however, relay live or recorded images, all the while not needing you to pay some sort of Internet fee, or any other sort of tax.

They still pick up on sounds though. In fact, you can actually configure the application to let you know when specific sounds are heard in the room.

Furthermore, there's an infrared LED included in the little, ball-like camera. It will allow you to check on your kid's room even at night. The LED has a range of 5 meters (16 feet) by the way.

As you may have guessed, the data (video included) can be accessed from your smartphone, or tablet if that's the sort of consumer electronic device you happen to prefer.

The app is called mydlink baby monitor and works on both Android and Apple’s iOS operating system (so yes, iPhones are supported).

The configuration process

It's not such a big deal, according to the company. Installing and activating the app should carry out the setup automatically, and can support multiple cameras at once.

And it's not all about simple surveillance either, but you can also take snapshots of your kids, even record funny and happy times. The DCS-820L has an integrated microSD card for that.

As for the DCS-800L/P EyeOn Pet Monitor, it's basically the same thing as the Baby Monitor only for cats, dogs or whatever else you happen to own. We won't blame you if you decide to look for an action cam though, since those can be mounted on their collars and whatnot.

The D-Link DCS-820L, DCS-800L and DCS-800L/P are available for sale worldwide for around $130 / €130. Part of all proceeds from their sales will go to the support of Water Aid, an international non-profit organization aiming to provide Africa and India with better access to drinkable water.
