Facebook users, be on the lookout for a scam that’s making the rounds on the social network trying to get people to like a page. Unfortunately, this particular scam is causing a family extreme distress.

The message that’s circulating on Facebook features the image of a baby in a hospital and asks for likes in exchange for prayers for the child’s wellbeing. One like equals one prayer, while a share equals 100.

The scam simply seeks to gather as many views and likes for a Facebook Page as possible, hoping that people promote it even further via shares.

This may seem harmless in the greater scheme of things, but the picture they’re using to go along with the scam has been stolen from a personal Facebook profile and has been used without permission. The ugly part of the entire thing is that since the page keeps popping up, the parents are continuously distraught since the baby actually passed away two weeks after she was born, Hoax Slayer reports.

This isn’t the first time a scam uses a baby’s picture and it sure won’t be the last that claims that liking or sharing a photo will help a child in any way. While some claim that money will be donated, most suggest that prayers will be the method to help out.

This time, however, it’s the fact that the stolen photo of a baby is being used without permission that is problematic, especially given the delicate circumstances. So stop sharing and liking the page if it pops up in your feed.
