Red Castle Productions sends a clear message: 15 minutes in a heated car can mean death

In 2013, 15 children have already died in the US alone after being left in a locked car, in scorching temperatures. Red Castle Productions is looking to raise awareness on the dangers of leaving kids in cars with the PSA above.

Do have a hankie at hand before pressing play.

The PSA is a reenactment of what usually happens in such situations, when the parent or babysitter believes they’ll only be gone for a couple of minutes so there’s no need to take the child as well.

Meanwhile, people who pass by and notice the kid in the backseat don’t intervene for various reasons.

Yet one decision can save lives: the decision to do something if you happen to see something like this, the decision to call for help, the decision not to leave your kid behind you in the car.

“Every 10 days a child dies from vehicular heatstroke in the US alone. Since 1998 there have been 575 deaths. 73% of those deaths were children under 2,” the video also says.

“It can take as little as 15 minutes in an overheated car for a child to suffer life-threatening brain or kidney injuries,” it adds.
