The official trailer for “The Internet’s Own Boy,” the documentary about Aaron Swartz, has been released. The release date for the movie is June 27, 2014.

The story of Aaron Swartz, the Reddit founder who committed suicide after being charged for downloading content from MIT’s online academic library JSTOR, has inspired many, including movie Producer Brian Knappenberger, who has decided to make a documentary about the activist’s life.

Knappenberger, who has also written and directed the movie about Anonymous called “We Are Legion,” convinced over 1,500 people to donate more than $93,000 (€67,000) for the project on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.

“A dynamic and tragic portrait of the life of Reddit developer and computer prodigy Aaron Swartz, a champion of open access who grew up to lead the internet community into a new age of data sharing and free speech,” reads the description published along with the trailer.

The documentary shows Swartz speaking on various occasions, including during anti-SOPA demonstrations, and people who knew him or ones inspired by his actions. The documentary appears to portray the activist as a victim of a flawed system.
