Flying Wild Hog, the developer of the recent Shadow Warrior first-person shooter/brawler, has just rolled out a fresh trailer, not to mention some screenshots and a lot of details about the game's upcoming PS4 and Xbox One version.

Shadow Warrior was initially released way back in 1997 as a tongue-in-cheek action game that borrowed heavily from Duke Nukem and its major success. Fast forward many years, and in 2013 Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital brought forth Shadow Warrior, a reboot of the series with all-new visuals, the same cheesy protagonist, and refined gameplay for the PC platform.

Currently, Flying Wild Hog is getting ready to debut Shadow Warrior for the PS4 and Xbox One platforms, bringing forth the same thrilling experience that appeared on the PC last year.

Shadow Warrior for consoles has the same story

Now, a series of details has just been shared by Flying Wild Hog's Artur Maksara on the PS blog, emphasizing that, while there's the same story, it's quite an impressive one filled with all sorts of nice elements scattered across 17 chapters.

In terms of gameplay, the studio retained the successful mix of regular weapons and the iconic katana, which allows players to take on the demons of hell in any way they want – either through cold hard lead bullets or the blazing fast steel of the sword.

PS4 owners can use the touchpad

Shadow Warrior on the PS4 also has a special feature that makes use of the touchpad on the DualShock 4 controller, allowing owners of the Sony home console to swipe on the pad and then unleash devastating attacks with the press of a trigger.

"The highlight of the game is the sword-fighting. Especially for PlayStation 4 where we have added touchpad support for some very intuitive control. Not only will you able to chop up the enemies to pieces more easily, you can also use the touchpad to perform combos and special moves – swipe your finger in one of the four directions and press the trigger to launch a devastating attack or a crippling spell."

The game runs at 1080p and 60fps

While the transition to the PS4 and Xbox One took a while, the studio is proud to confirm that the game is going to run natively at 1080p resolution and at 60fps framerate, at least on Sony's device.

"The game runs on our RoadHog engine in 1080p and at 60 fps. Some of you might have already had the chance to see the game in action at one of the many gaming exhibitions it was showed at, and we can’t wait for you to play the full game this fall. We love playing our reimagined Shadow Warrior on PlayStation 4."

Until the game comes out this fall for consoles, check out a new trailer and a few screenshots of it in action below.
