About a week and a half ago, on August 6, a Northern fur seal living at the New England Aquarium went into labor and delivered a healthy pup.

According to Zoo Borns, the pup was born in the late hours of the day.

Overnight, the baby seal and its mum bonded surprisingly well. Hence the fact that, by early August 7, they were already calling to each other.

Staff at the New England Aquarium say that, up until now, Ursula hasn't shown any signs of aggression towards trainers who have come close to her pup.

However, the seals' caretakers have decided to postpone weighing and examining the pup, just in case Ursula might throw a fit when seeing humans handling her offspring.

As explained in the video above, this Northern fur seal pup is the second of its kind to have ever been born at the New England Aquarium.
