I don't know about you, but I for one am quite convinced that, when face to face with a volcano eruption, the best thing to do is pack your bags and head to Antarctica or some other place where such events never happen.

Luckily, there are people in this world who are brave enough to remain close to erupting volcanoes, and even film them as they are busy spewing out ash and lava. But for such people, we would not get to enjoy videos like the one below.

According to Live Science, the footage was shot this past June 15, when Mount Etna in Italy erupted and put on quite a show. By the looks of it, the video was shot not by geologists or anything of the sorts, but by volcano watchers.

The same source tells us that, in the aftermath of this volcanic eruption, impressive amounts of lava flowed down Mount Etna's flanks, and the Catania Airport had to be temporarily closed due to low visibility caused by smoke.

Specialists say that, for the time being, Mount Etna is one of Europe's largest active volcanoes. Thus, the structure releases lava on a yearly basis. However, it was back in 1992 that the last major eruptions took place.
