Matjeka, a female elephant living in Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida has recently given birth to a baby girl.

The calf appears to be in good health, and spends most of the day trailing her mother's every step.

Interestingly enough, the elephant calf's caretakers were not the ones to name Matjeka's little bundle of joy. On the contrary, they allowed the mother elephant to choose her baby's name.

As explained in the video above, zoo keepers first came up with several suitable names. They then narrowed down the list to just two options, and used stacks of hay and food to spell them.

All Matjeka had to do was decide whether she liked the stack spelling Mavi or the one spelling Mnhani better. By the looks of it, the mother elephant settled on the former.
