Britain's Iron Lady was well aware of the dangers of climate change, warned about them

Quite a lot of people are just now picking up on the fact that climate change and global warming are phenomena that human society should spare a few thoughts for.

Still, as the video above shows, Margaret Thatcher, Britain's so-called Iron Lady, was well ahead of those who are only nowadays beginning to come to terms with the fact that climate change constitutes a real threat to our planet's biodiversity.

Long story short, while attending the second World Climate Conference in Geneva, back in 1990, Margaret Thatcher said that, “The danger of global warming is as yet unseen, but real enough for us to make changes and sacrifices, so that we do not live at the expense of future generations.”

It may very well be that at the time when Margaret Thatcher spoke at said Conference, the danger of global warming was very much “unseen,” but it's been a while since Britain's Iron Lady made those observations.

Hence our having several studies at our disposal which document and predict the ways in which climate change will transform the world we are all too familiar with.

Should you have about 30 minutes to spare, also check out the video below, which shows Margaret Thatcher addressing the general assembly of the United Nations on 8 November 1989. The topic: global environmental issues.
