Towards the end of last year, 53-year-old Nigel Ackland was fitted with a high-tech bionic hand which he can control by moving his upper arm.

As the video above shows, the man has now grown so accustomed to his new limb that he can perform simple tasks such as tying his shoelaces, walking the dog, drinking a beer, dressing himself and peeling vegetables.

Although the carbon fiber mechanical hand might look like something taken out of a Terminator movie, Nigel says that his being fitted with it has pretty much changed his life.

Thus, had it not been for this artificial limb, this father would now find it impossible to carry on with his life almost as if the accident in which he lost his real arm nearly six years ago had never taken place.
