Earlier this week, on Tuesday morning, an unidentified man walked into a store in West Philadelphia and robbed it. Oddly enough, it turns out his weapon of choice was a run-off-the-mill banana that he simply picked up from the counter.

The robbery was caught on camera, and the footage was shared with the public by the local police in an attempt to obtain more information about the robber and catch him. You can find the video below.

According to Philly, the store that this man robbed is dubbed Tejada Grocery. It's address is 3874 Poplar St. When questioned by police officers, the cashier here said that she had no idea what was being pointed at her was not a gun, but a banana.

She further detailed that the man simply asked her to give him money and cigarettes, and that, after getting what he wanted, he left. The surveillance footage available below shows the man making a daring escape on a bicycle.

Information shared with the public says the man responsible for this robbery is described as a 140-pound (63.5-kilogram) black male. At the time when he committed the crime, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Those who have any idea who he might are asked to either contact Det. Maloney, of the East Detective Division, at 215-686-3183 or 3184, or submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting PPD TIP (773847).
