That Fox tugs at the heartstrings of viewers with some of the cases it chooses to grant more screen time is no secret, but never before has a hopeful presented a more touching story than Lazaro Arbos.
Get your hankies ready and check out the video above, of his audition on the brand new season of American Idol.
Lazaro works as an ice-cream scooper in Naples, Florida but he was born in Cuba, having moved with his parents to the US when he was still a kid.
He’s been stuttering since he was 6 and, by the time the family relocated to the US, it had already gotten so bad that he had moments when he could hardly speak.
Singing is Lazaro’s only release, his parents explain: he doesn’t have friends so he made music the love of his life.
Which is just as good because all four judges, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson all gave him a pass for the next stage.
Keep an eye on that one, he’s already moved millions with his case and beautiful voice, so he’s likely to get their votes.
