A group of people paddling their canoes in the waters of Australia's Gold Coast were more than surprised when a koala bear decided that they were having way too much fun and that there was no reason for it not to join them.

Thus, as you can see in the video, the koala plunged in the water and started swimming towards the two canoes, seemingly oblivious to the fact that most other representatives of its species do not really enjoy getting their fur wet.

The paddlers were a bit surprised by the vivid interest this koala displayed towards them, but they eventually pulled it up in one of the canoes as the animal really wanted to climb aboard and couldn't do so on its own.

“It took a sip of water and then saw us and obviously decided to come straight over," she said. "Then it started clawing at the boat and we didn't know what to do. We were thinking it was going to drown so my mate behind me just grabbed him and put him straight in the boat,” explained the person to filmed this peculiar wildlife encounter.

Naturally, once the ride was over, the koala was released back into the wild.
