She promised jaws would drop and faces would melt, and she delivered – with help from Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott

Many thought that Katy Perry wouldn’t be able to deliver a solid Halftime performance at the Super Bowl 2015, which took place some hours ago, even though she’d promised she would do a show that would make jaws drop and faces melt.

She also said she’d been rehearsing for the performance for a very long time and was determined to deliver top notch entertainment for the biggest sporting event in television. Well, she didn’t lie or exaggerate about that.

You can see her Halftime set in the video below: it was truly an outstanding spectacle.

We already knew that Lenny Kravitz would be featured at some point, but the surprise was having him turn Katy’s “I Kissed a Girl” into a rock song. However, the biggest surprise of the Halftime show was, without a doubt, having Missy Elliott perform a medley of her biggest hits – and own the stage like a boss that she is.

We definitely need more Missy in our life.

The show also included a roaring, walking, giant lioness that Katy rode on at the beginning of the show, a firework display, a beach moment complete with dancing sharks, palm trees and volleyballs, and a chess board.

The almost 13-minute performance ended with Katy soaring over the crowd like a comet, to the tune of her famous song “Firework.” Check it out.
