British crooner John Newman has premiered online a video for his song “Out of My Head,” ahead of its release on April 7 as the fourth single from his debut album called “Tribute.”

The sad tones of his ballad are echoed by a disturbing video shot on black and white film in which a montage of objects being destroyed is played on backwards.

A far cry from today's pop videos, “Out of My Head” manages to surprise with its serious and artistic tones. The editing in the video is masterfully done, as scenes seem to flow into one another seamlessly and even merge at various moments, creating a dream-like illusion.

Meanwhile, Newman is set to participate in next week's Brit Awards, being nominated for several categories, including British Male Solo Artist, British Single and British Video for his hit song “Love Me Again.”

His album reached number one on the UK chart in October, while in America he managed to score only a 24 on the Billboard 200.
