The Australian coast guard has recently rescued a male humpback whale that was entangled in some shark net and was unable to free itself.

Check out the video above to see how the rescue operation unfolded.

Since the marine mammal's entire body was wrapped in the shark net, freeing the animal proved a fairly difficult thing to do, Courier Mail reports.

More so since the whale had no idea the people approaching it were trying to help it, and kept fidgeting most of the time.

According to a spokesperson for Australia's Noosa coast guard, the people involved in this rescue mission had to use sharp tools to cut the net.

Shortly after being freed, the whale swam away. It is believed that the marine animal did not suffer any injuries as a result of its spending numerous hours tangled in the shark net.
