This very close encounter with the marine mammal left the fishermen in quite a shock

We all know that whale-watching is a rather enjoyable free time activity, especially if one is a big fan of biodiversity and marine wildlife.

However, a group of fishermen who were just minding their own business in the waters close to Canada's British Columbia had the shock of a lifetime when a humpback whale they've been observing from afar for quite a while decided to take a better look at both them and their boat, and jumped out of the water just a few feet away from them.

The animal's decision to spring out of the ocean at a 90-degree angle took the fishermen quite by surprise, more so since the humpback whale seems to have taken a 'conscious' decision to jump in their direction.

Apparently, 10ft (about 3 meters) had been all that lacked for the fishermen to find themselves sharing the boat with this very curious marine mammal.

You have the video of this unexpectedly close-encounter down below.
