The crustaceans are ripped apart while they are still alive

Some time ago, green group PETA took a stand against Linda Bean's Maine Lobster, a seafood plant in Maine, US and accused its workers of torturing crustaceans instead of killing them in a humane manner.

The video above was shot at this seafood plant, and shows workers ripping apart lobsters and crabs while these are alive and therefore aware of what is happening to them.

As shown in the video, the dismembered animals are then thrown in large bins. Some of them go on living for many hours after their Tails and their claws have been torn from their bodies.

According to PETA, such practices are a violation of Maine's cruelty-to-animals statute. Therefore, authorities should intervene and force workers at the seafood plant to quit abusing these crustaceans in such gruesome ways.

Those wishing to help PETA and its cause can do so by sending a message to Linda Bean asking that the seafood plant switch to a more human way to kill crustaceans.
