Just about everyone's who's interested in testing the level of performance provided by a certain graphics processing unit (professionals and enthusiasts alike) is quite familiar with the 3DMark benchmark suite developed by Futuremark, not to mention that they're eagerly waiting for the future version of this application, 3D Mark 2011, to make an appearance.

But before that happens (a little later on this year, although the exact date has not been provided), Futuremark has provided us with some teaser trailers, the latest to become available (you can watch it at the end of this article) being the "High Temple" tech demo trailer that shows advanced tessellation and lighting effects rendered in real time by 3DMark 11’s native DirectX 11 engine.

According to Futuremark, the High Temple is a demonstration of the DirectX 11 powered 3DMark 11 engine, the high definition 1080p trailer featuring a mysterious ruined temple hidden deep inside a lush jungle.

Volumetric lighting illuminates the scene with bright sunlight filtering through the dense jungle, tessellation being used to add rich detail to the temple carvings and the jungle foliage while post processing delivers depth of field and other lens effects.

The music is an original composition by renowned composer Pedro Macedo Camacho.

If you watch the video, you'll surely notice the Antec logo, its placement within the High Temple tech demo being a special sponsorship arrangement between Antec and Futuremark, one of the few ensuring that Futuremark can offer a free edition of the benchmark (a demo is available for download right here, on Softpedia) alongside the paid editions.

"The High Temple tech demo showcases the amazing real-time graphics that are possible today using readily available DirectX 11 hardware," said Jukka Mäkinen, Futuremark CEO.

"With 3DMark 11 releasing later this year and an ever increasing number of games using DirectX 11 there is a lot to look forward to for PC gamers,” concluded Futuremark's CEO.
