If you consider yourself a true horror movie fan, here’s the ultimate test for you. Check out the video above and see how many film references you can spot in it.

This is the Guillermo del Toro-directed opening sequence for “The Simpsons” 24th annual Treehouse of Horror Halloween anthology series.

As you can see, it’s packed with references from cult horror films, but also from del Toro’s own movies. Sure, it’s incredibly creepy but, at the same time, it’s also pretty awesome.

Ironically, del Toro was initially asked to do a bit of voice work or, at best, “whip up a cough gag,” EW writes. He was the one who decided to go all out there with a brand new opening sequence.

“The Simpsons titles are so iconic and yet they’ve never been riffed in this vein. I really wanted to land the connections between the [show’s] set pieces and the titles and some of the most iconic horror movies, and intersperse them with some of my stuff in there for pure joy,” he says.

He describes it as a “unique opportunity” that he simply could not pass on, both for the kid in him and for the fans he wished to entertain this way.

So tell me, did he succeed with you?
