Every once in a while, ordinary people feel like they are so hungry they could eat an entire oversized pizza in just one sitting. As it turns out, great white sharks are no strangers to such extreme hunger.

On the contrary, one such marine creature has recently been filmed while trying to take a bite out of a boat that was floating about in the waters off the Cape May, a city in New Jersey, US.

The footage is available below, and it shows the shark circling the boat before finally deciding to try and sink its teeth into its engine.

Luckily for the people aboard, the great white soon figures out that engines do not make a proper snack, and gives up on this endeavor.

However, the animal does steal the chum food bag that the boat's crew was hoping to use to attract fish that they themselves could later catch.

“Uh-oh, he's going to take our chum bag. He's going to take our chum bag!” a man can be heard saying in the video documenting this very close in counter with a great white shark in New Jersey's waters.

Although this is yet to be confirmed, it is estimated that the shark in this footage measures about 16 feet in length (nearly 5 meters). This means that, had it put its mind to it, it could have easily destroyed the engine.
