The scientists say the robo-ape moves just like the real thing, release videos to prove it

A team of German researchers have recently finished work on a rather peculiar project: designing and manufacturing a robotic ape that moves just like the real thing.

Lack of fur aside, I for one have to admit that the robo-ape is stunningly lifelike. Check out the video above to see it walk, and the one below to see it keep its balance on a moving surface.

Tree Hugger reports that the robo-ape rolled out by these scientists can walk forwards, backwards and even sideways.

From this standpoint, it trumps most other animal-like robots that have been developed over the years.

The high-tech creature uses its back limbs and its front knuckles to walk and balance itself, the same source explains.

In the future, the researchers hope that they will succeed in “convincing” the robo-ape to stand upright and even twist in every direction.
