Mark Gee, the man behind this stunning video, explains how he got the opportunity to film this breathtaking natural phenomenon while spending some time in Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington.

According to Gizmodo, no manipulation was used when making this video. Quite the contrary: the footage was brought to us straight from the camera's memory work.

“People had gathered up there this night to get the best view possible of the moon rising. It's something that I've been wanting to photograph for a long time now, and a lot of planning and failed attempts had taken place,” Mark Gee told members of the press.

Still, “Finally, during moon rise on the 28th January 2013, everything fell into place and I got my footage.”
