I have to admit that this is one documentary film I really don't want to miss. Just check out the trailer above and I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that “Blackfish” promises to make a splash.

The film tells the story of Tilikum, a captive whale that one day decided that he had had enough of swimming around in a “bathtub” and that it was high time for him to show just how unhappy he was.

“I initially chose to focus on Tilikum because of the death of Dawn Brancheau. I knew nothing about his past or his behavior, but his story just happened to scream the loudest.”

“Why would such a highly emotional, intelligent animal bite the hand that feeds it? It was bizarre. It was scary. Later, when I started peeling back the onion, I realized he gave me a powerful point of entry, but the story was about so much more than Tilikum,” Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite reportedly told the press.

The documentary will be released this coming July 12, and I for one cannot wait to see it.
