If you have about two minutes to spare and feel that you could really use a break from reality, here is what you can do: sit back, relax and enjoy this fascinating time-lapse video showing snowflakes form in midair.

The video is the creation of a Russian filmmaker by the name Vyacheslav Ivanov. In order to obtain this stunning footage, the filmmaker actually went through the trouble of growing snowflakes in a controlled environment.

He then recorded the process with the help of an ultra-high-speed camera, and thus managed to show the entire world how it is exactly that the crystal flowers that rain down on us during winter come into being, Fast Co-Design explains.

The video was posted on Vimeo just a few days ago, and, by the looks of it, people have taken quite a liking to it. Thus, several of those who have had the chance to watch it describe it as utterly gorgeous and mindblowing.

I don't know about you, but I for one have to admit that I too like this video a lot, chiefly because it reminds me of the fact that snowflakes don't just form in the blink of an eye, and that there is a great deal of work that Mother Nature puts into making them.
