Ubisoft has unleashed not one, but two different videos concerning its upcoming Far Cry 4 title, with the first being a dev diary that chronicles the travel of certain developers and Vice reporters in Nepal, and the second confirming the Quest for Everest competition.

Far Cry 4 launches this fall, and in case you haven't been paying attention, it takes place in a fictional country called Kyrat, set in the Himalayas mountain range. The location has been through quite a lot of turmoil and is currently ruled over by dictator Pagan Min.

In order to properly document the Himalayas and how a country like Kyrat can function, two Far Cry 4 developers actually went to Nepal, and with the help of two Vice journalists, they were able to gather a lot of information.

"Working in collaboration with Vice, two members from the Far Cry 4 development team at Ubisoft Montreal traveled to Nepal to get an inside look at the region that inspired the setting for the game. The results were eye-opening: the trip not only left a lasting impression on Narrative Director Mark Thompson and Production Manager Philippe Fournier, but it literally changed the game," Ubisoft says on the UbiBlog.

"When they returned from Nepal, Thompson realized their Kyrat was essentially a Disney-esque version of the region and they went back to the drawing board, according to Creative Director Alex Hutchinson (who shared that insight at the Comic Con panel where this video debuted)."

Besides the special dev diary video, Ubisoft has also confirmed that it's organizing a very special competition to mark the release of Far Cry 4 called Quest for Everest.

As the clip below shows, fans of Far Cry 4 can submit a video showing why they deserve to be sent by Ubisoft to Everest and become the first man or woman to play a video game on top of the mountain.

"If you want to have your own life-changing experience, Ubisoft also announced the Quest for Everest contest. All you have to do is submit a video application showing us why you’re the most qualified for the trek."

Bear in mind that the contest is only open to United States of America residents and they must be 21 or older. There's no purchase necessary, but Ubisoft emphasizes that there is "inherent risk of death and significant injury to persons and property associated with the Quest for Everest experience and by participating, winner understands and assumes this risk."

Far Cry 4 debuts this fall on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
