Ubisoft has offered a few more details about Watch Dogs on the PlayStation 4, emphasizing how it takes advantage of the DualShock 4 controller as well as of the Share system employed by Sony with its next-gen console.

Watch Dogs finally received a concrete release earlier this month, and it's now set to appear at the end of May on a variety of platforms.

On the PS4, the game will shine, as not only will it have exclusive content in form of bonus missions and goodies, but it will also employ the DualShock 4 controller in clever ways.

First up, it seems that, while protagonist Aiden Pearce can interact with his trusty smartphone inside the game, players can employ the DualShock 4's touchpad in order to bring up the map and navigate it easily.

Besides that, the Share button and the system built by Sony inside the PS4 to allow players to easily share screenshots and videos will also be employed by the game, as it offers plenty of chances for players to create their own memorable moments.

"The more you play Watch Dogs, the more exciting and personal stories are going to emerge," Ubisoft's Colin Graham told PS blog. "I’m really interested to see the sort of stuff we’ll get through players using the Share button. The game is perfect for that. You guys are going to surprise us and do things with the game we didn’t expect."

"I love the Share button," Jonathan Morin added. "I’ve always said that the next generation of gaming would be defined by the players’ behavior. It’s no longer about graphics, it’s about the social media phenomenon. The Share button’s presence helps create a certainty that PS4 players would be receptive to our ideas in Watch Dogs."

Last but not least, the Ubisoft Montreal team also emphasized the power of the PS4 and how it allowed the whole studio to let loose and craft a high-quality experience without worrying about performance limitations.

"PS4 has really given us the platform to build a new type of game," Graham said. "It gave us a chance to dream. From an animation point of view we’re always running out of memory, especially when you start developing towards the end of a console generation, so PS4 allowed things like reduced animation compression and more variety in civilians. From my point of view it’s a bit like working with an unlimited budget because we can’t fill the memory budget on PS4. It’s a really nice piece of hardware."

Watch Dogs launches at the end of May for the PS4 but also for PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. At a later point in time, it will debut for the Wii U as well.
