Watch Dogs is nearing its launch date of May 27, and developer Ubisoft has released a new TV commercial in North America and Europe, meant to confuse people into thinking that it's a new movie.

Well, not really, but it could be, judging by the way it's edited, not showing any actual game footage and using a gruff, Batman-like voice. The fact that it also features a lot of PlayStation 4 branding helps viewers discern the fact that it's an ad for the upcoming action adventure game.

Watch Dogs places players in the role of a hacker going around the city of Chicago and using his technical know-how in order to fight the injustice he sees around him, and it plays like a more complex third-person shooter with parkour elements.

The game has been officially confirmed to run at 900p on Sony's next-gen home entertainment system, the PlayStation 4, and at 792p on Microsoft's Xbox One console. On both machines, the framerate is locked at 30 frames per second for the entire duration of the game.

Watch Dogs is coming out on May 27 worldwide, launching on current-gen consoles as well as on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. Ubisoft has said that it's still working on the Nintendo Wii U version of the game, due out later this year.
