A few more technical details about Watch Dogs, the upcoming open world action adventure title from Ubisoft, have appeared online, with its developers confirming that framerate is quite important for the game and that it uses SMAA on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms.

Watch Dogs amazed millions of gamers when it was first revealed at E3 2012, portraying a rich, vibrant, and high-quality open world, not to mention a great premise that emphasized hacking the many different IT systems that govern our world today.

The game focuses on Aiden Pearce, a talented hacker, and sees him exact his revenge on people who betrayed him.

Ubisoft has already gone in-depth about the different technologies, systems, and mechanics that are a part of the game, from the AI, to the animations, and much more.

After revealing some of the impressive visual technologies included in the PC edition of the game, Watch Dogs Lead Programmer Francis Boivin has confirmed to GamingBolt that the PS4 or Xbox One versions will also look quite good, as they both use SMAA (subpixel morphological anti-aliasing).

"Watch Dogs uses the same post-process anti-aliasing solution on both Xbox One and PS4," he said. "Each frame, a custom SMAA filter is applied on the image. On top of that, we smooth the image even more by using a temporal solution; that is, by re-projecting each pixel to its position in the previous frame and by letting each go through a set of heuristics tailored for the game, we’re able to further reduce visible aliasing."

On the PC, however, SMAA will be available for AMD graphics cards, but owners of Nvidia hardware will be able to enjoy the improved TXAA technology.

What's more, while talking about the constant battle between resolution and framerate, Watch Dogs Senior Producer Dominic Guay has told the website that the framerate should always be focused on, as it makes the biggest difference on how a game feels.

"Framerate is very important to the gameplay, to the controls. It’s not something you want to compromise on," he said.

As of yet, Ubisoft hasn't revealed the framerate of Watch Dogs on the PS4 or Xbox One, although one of its developers has confirmed that it's stable on the PS4 at least. The native resolution has been announced as 1080p for PS4, but the Xbox One edition is still unclear.

Considering Watch Dogs is going to debut on May 27, you can bet that more technical details will appear in the following weeks.
