The cat was walking backwards and was feeling quite panicky when the pooch rushed to its rescue and freed it

For some reason, a whole lot of people are convinced that there is no way that cats and dogs could ever be friends. Leave it to the video below to bury this rumor once and for all.

The footage, now making rounds on the Internet, shows a pooch rescuing a scared and terribly confused cat walking around with a plastic cup stuck on its head.

It's unclear how the feline managed to get its head jammed inside the cup, but what is as clear as day is that, had it not been for the black Labrador, it would have taken it quite a while to free itself on its own.

In fact, it's pretty obvious that, before the pooch rushed to its rescue and freed it, the feline was feeling quite panicky. As soon as the plastic cup covering its face was gone, it calmed down.

Rather than sit around waiting for a treat or at least a well-deserved “thank you, much appreciated,” the black Labrador leaves and wanders off into the sunset (or maybe the neighbors' backyard) the moment the cat is safe and sound.

As endearing as this rescue story might be, one cannot help but wonder whether, had the roles been reversed, the cat would've jumped to the dog's rescue.

I don't know about you, but I'll go out on a limb and say that it wouldn't probably stared at the pooch long and hard before finally bursting out laughing.
