Green group PETA demands that people quit drinking Kopi luwak

I love my morning cup of coffee as much as anyone, but I have to admit I would never give Kopi luwak a try. Not after watching this shocking video, at least.

For those unaware, Kopi luwak, otherwise known as civet coffee, is one of the most expensive coffee varieties presently available on the market.

It's made from partially digested coffee beans collected from the poop of a small mammal species known as the Asian palm civet, Tree Hugger explains.

This might not be such a problem if the people manufacturing and marketing Kopi luwak were to stalk these animals in their natural habitats and wait for them to use the loo to get their hands on the precious coffee beans.

However, this seldom happens. As explained in the video, civets are often caught, locked away in cages and forced to do nothing but eat and poop all day long. After a while, they quit being as prolific as they used to be in their younger days, and are released in the wild.

Unfortunately, many do not survive the experience.
