Let's face it, graphs are pretty boring. Lengthy studies about climate change, global warming and their impact on the natural balance of our planet aren't all that fun either.
Working on these assumptions, University of Minnesota undergraduate student Daniel Crawford pieced together a song that documents whatever changes have taken place in global temperatures over the past decades.
Check out the video below to learn more about his project, and listen to his “A Song of Our Warming Planet.”
The song is played on the cello, and each musical note represents the temperature recorded in a given year. Low notes stand for cool years, high ones show an increase in temperatures.
“Data visualizations are effective for some people, but they aren’t the best way to reach everyone.
“Instead of giving people something to look at, Dan’s performance gives them something they can feel,” geography professor Scott St. George said when asked to comment on Daniel Crawford’s project.
