The clip shows how efficient the new autofocus system is

When Canon launched the EOS 7D Mark II at Photokina 2014 a few months ago, it made a point in highlighting one of the main improvements the camera arrived with, which is a brand new autofocus system.

Talk is one thing, but actually seeing the EOS 7D Mark II’s autofocus at work is something else entirely. Photographer Daero Lee has posted a video on YouTube in which the new system is put to work. And the results are quite impressive.

The DSLR is used at 10 fps with AF multi-zone and AI servo tracking. Lee chose to test out the camera’s autofocus during a dance performance featuring fast moving subjects.

The mini clip shows you what you normally see through a viewfinder, including scene, background, settings and the superfast little black AF points tracking the subjects.

The EOS 7D Mark II’s new autofocus system takes advantage of 65 autofocus points (all are cross type) to deliver advanced levels of sensitivity in portrait and landscape mode.

The 7D Mark II also sports a 20.2MP CMOS sensor, which is the same as the one the EOS 7D was built around.

Canon has upgraded things in the processor department with a generation, so you now find a Dual Digic 6 chip inside the camera (instead of Digic 4 like it was the case with the predecessor).
