Before Sunday’s Super Bowl 2014, Bruno Mars was saying that he wasn’t “afraid” about the halftime performance even if, as one reporter put it to him, it had the power to make or break his career. As you can see in the video above, there’s no question of breaking Bruno’s career – far from it.

The 28-year-old pop star took to the stage at halftime with his backup troupe The Hooligans and delivered one of the most incendiary and overall awesome Halftime performances of all times. Sure, it didn’t lead to a blackout like Beyonce’s last year but, let’s be honest here, it came dangerously close.

Halfway through the performance, which included hits like “Billionaire,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” and “Runaway Baby,” Bruno and his gang were joined by the rockers from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

To wrap up the gig, Bruno toned it down a lot with a live rendition of his superb ballad “Just the Way You Are,” which was preceded by footage with messages from soldiers serving abroad, dedicating the song to their special ones.

To sum it up, Bruno’s Halftime gig was perfection, combining in almost equal measure the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll through the unbounded levels of energy with raw emotion.
