Flying has gained loads of popularity over these past few years, and risks becoming a major contributor to environmental pollution unless measures to green up this industry are soon implemented.

In an attempt to improve on the ecological footprint of the aviation industry, Boeing has launched the so-called ecoDemonstrator.

The ecoDemostrator is basically an inaugural flight test program aimed at determining which technologies would yield the most benefits when used to make planes a bit more environmentally-friendly.

As explained in the video above, the specialists working on this project will draw their inspiration from nature, and mainly focus on figuring out ways to make planes more fuel-efficient.

This isn't by any means Boeing's first green-oriented endeavor.

Thus, in October 2012, Boeing announced that one of their latest training facilities in Antalya, Turkey was self-sustaining, meaning that it produced all the energy it needed to keep up and running.
