The Bloodborne alpha test is a great way for developer From Software to iron out all the kinks in the upcoming action role-playing game, but it's also a great way for us to get a closer look at what's heading our way.

The Bloodborne alpha test takes place today, then on October 3 and October 5, and allows select PlayStation 4 owners to get their hands on the merciless video game and take their chances at surviving in the dark city of Yharnam.

Fortunately, three videos have made their way online, offering us a look at some gothic crows and a handful of mini-bosses, as well as at a full-fledged boss fight from the upcoming title.

The most important thing we can gleam from the videos is the harrowing and creepy atmosphere in Bloodborne, accentuated by the gothic architecture and misty nocturnal setting.

The game features four different character builds, and the videos show the Kirkhammer class in action, focusing on slow and wide slams with a cudgel that can also become a sword and deliver swift attacks when confronted by fleet-footed opponents.

Bloodborne is scheduled to come out exclusively on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, on February 5 in Japan and February 6 in North America and Europe.
