2014 was all about emotion, less about shocking viewers with shameless or lewd content

Though many voices online are saying that the Super Bowl 2014, which took place last night, wasn’t the best as far as the quality of the ads aired is concerned, they’re also saying that a decided shift was noticed in the tone of the same commercials, from shamelessly funny or even lewd to emotional.

Embedded below are some of the most touching and best put together ads that aired last night. Whether they played on patriotism, love of family, or compassion, they all had one thing in common: they delivered the message that love should govern our every action in relations to others.

Above is the Coca Cola “It’s Beautiful” ad that we’ve already discussed earlier today, which many took to be very un-America despite its clear message.

The ad that I didn’t include here is Budweiser’s “Puppy Love,” but only because we’ve already talked about it on a previous occasion.

Kudos to Axe for finding the perfect way to ditch the previous approach without making it appear as if they’re selling out or being untrue to the image they worked so hard to establish.

Now, grab a box of hankies and enjoy!

Axe, “Make Love Not War”

Budweiser, “A Hero’s Welcome”

Chevrolet, “Life”

Cheerios, “Gracie”
