The first Assassin’s Creed game to be released on next-generation platforms, Black Flag has just received an explanatory video that shows some of the engine behind the game.

The video explains how Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag takes advantage of the “next gen” technology in order to create more realistic oceans, dynamic weather systems, ambient lighting, as well as seamless ship boarding.

Complex shaders give the ocean the perfect translucent appearance, while use of real Beaufort scale waves will give players the sense of navigating the ocean.

The new sea engine is another highlight of the video and, according to devs, it follows real-world physics thanks to the power of next-gen processors.

Ubisoft’s Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be launched this fall for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U.
