Koalas are some of the cutest leaf-eating creatures ever, don't you agree? Well, no, not really. There is one very good reason they are equipped with a fine set of sharp teeth and scary-looking claws, and it's not because the leaves they like to eat have a tendency to fight back.

As it turns out, koala's don't just make great plushy toys. They are excellent fighters and don't shy away from trials by combat, especially when privileges like food, territory and the possibility of romance are at stake. Check out the video below to see for yourselves.

The footage was shot by a man named Ashton Webster not far from his home in the town of Foster in Victoria, Australia, just a few days ago. It shows two koalas battling it out, each probably looking to crown itself the owner of all the tasty leaves in sight.

Ashton Webster witnessed this epic fight while taking his two dogs out for a walk. Yup, the two pooches circling the angry koala's in this video are his. Luckily, the tree dwellers were too preoccupied with their wrestling championship to even notice they had company.

Although they nap for about 20 hours a day and lead fairly sedentary lives, koalas are known to turn into vicious little balls of fur, should circumstances demand it. Apparently, it's males that most often get into fights with one another, be it over food resources or over the right to mate.
