Mind you, this is one seriously aggressive bird

A drone casually flying over a tranquil landscape in the Netherlands nearly crashed to its doom when a vicious goose attacked it out of nowhere and slapped it so hard it almost knocked off its engine.

When ambushed by the murderous bird, the drone was flying over the Oudorperpolder area of Alkmaar, a municipality in the province of Noord Holland.

Netherlands public broadcaster RTV Noord-Holland, owner of the drone, suspects the goose turned against the defenseless aerial vehicle because it thought it to be a rival come to seduce its sweethearts and assume control of its territory.

The good news is that, as intent on ultimate annihilation as the bird was when it descended from the sky and assaulted the drone, the craft escaped the encounter very much alive.

True, this airborne duel might not have been a very pleasant experience for the unmanned vehicle, but at least the drone wasn't bruised bad enough not to be able to make a safe landing afterwards.

Earlier this month, a bird made the mistake to try and take on a plane. Admittedly, the Boeing 737-800 came out pretty damaged, but it still had a better time than the ill-inspired bird, which was pretty much obliterated.
