A UPS cargo plane has gone down in Alabama this morning, killing the pilot and the co-pilot. The video posted above this news blog shows an up-close view of the horrifying accident scene.

As I mentioned previously, Flight 1354 crashed near Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport at roughly 6 a.m.

A spokesman for UPS has identified the plane as an A-300 Airbus, tail number N155UP.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the crew," Mike Mangeot said on behalf of the company.

No survivors have been reported on the wrecked aircraft, and there have been no casualties on the ground.

The fire department has reported that the accident sent debris flying over a half a mile (0.8 km) radius. The crash site is an uninhabited area that used to house an entire neighborhood. It is located near 19th Avenue North and North East Lake Boulevard.
