Pretty much everybody knows that whales are big, but there is little denying that it's videos like this one that really put things into perspective.

The footage above was shot by California-based whale watching company Dana Wharf Whale Watching with the help of a drone, and it shows a fins whale swimming around in the Pacific Ocean.

What's truly amazing about this video is the fact that it shows how, despite the fact that they can grow to be longer that a run-off-the-mill school bus, fin whales are surprisingly sleek and quite graceful.

According to Huffington Post, this species is currently considered an endangered one, and therefore benefits from legal protection.

Thus, boats must not come closer than 100 yards (about 91.5 meters) from one such marine mammal, and airplanes and helicopters are required to keep a distance of about 1,000 feet (almost 305 meters).

For the time being, high officials and conservationists have not agreed on whether or not such restrictions should also apply to drones.
