Captain Dave Anderson of Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari has recently pieced together this video showing a dolphin megapod migrating down the coast of San Clemente in Orange County, California.

Dolphin megapod migrations have been caught on camera before and I've had the chance to watch several videos documenting this behavior. Still, I have to admit that watching the migration from above really helps put things into perspective.

This aerial footage of dozens of dolphins swimming together was obtained with the help of a drone fitted with a camera.

In the video's description, Captain Dave Anderson points out the fact that, by embracing this technology, he managed to learn more about dolphins and whales that he did during the time when he had to settle for watching them from his boat.

“This is the most beautiful and compelling five-minute video I have ever put together. I learned so much about these whales and dolphins from this drone footage that it feels like I have entered a new dimension!” he writes.

“I have not been this excited about a new technology since we built our underwater viewing pods on our whale watching boat,” Captain Dave Anderson further explains.

Apart from images of the dolphin megapod migration, the video includes footage showing several gray and even humpback whales swimming through the ocean.
