Ever since announcing the Lumia 1020, Nokia has been touting the imaging capabilities of the device, and the company has decided to showcase them once again.

For that, Microsoft (Nokia's Devices and Services division was sold to the Redmond-based company in the meantime) has partnered with filmmaker Paul Trillo and has come up with an ingenuous system that has included no less than 50 Lumia 1020 smartphones.

The system can control all of the said handsets at the same time, thus capable of creating a “bullet-effect” photoshoot, which offers a new, unique experience.

The aforementioned system, built by Nokia’s creative Lab and filmmaker Paul Trillo, was called the “Multi Lumia Arc of Wonder.” It looks as showed in the photo above.

However, as a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads, this is not the first interesting system created using Nokia Lumia handsets. An interactive dress made up of Lumia 1520 smartphones by Fyodor Golan was showcased several months ago.

Moreover, the aforementioned blog post explains that the Multi Lumia Arc of Wonder has been transported through the bustling streets of New York, and that the Living Moments captured using the 41-megapixel cameras on the Lumia 1020 handsets have been put together in a video (it can be seen embedded below).

This is the first time that 50 Lumia handsets are connected together, but the result is amazing. As can be seen in the aforementioned clip, the system creates a bullet-effect photoshoot, that is meant to push the boundaries of photography and technology.

“We used a Microsoft Surface tablet to control the shoot and a special app which was designed for the Windows 8 mobile platform,” Paul Trillo explains.

“We captured a total of 30,000 images across Manhattan, including Union Square, Allen St. and Central Park West.”

As Costas Syrmos, head of the creative Lab, explains, the Multi Lumia Arc of Wonder puts together smart technology in order to showcase the power of Lumia imaging.

You can have a look at the results of the shoot in the first video embedded below. Those of you who would like to get a behind-the-scenes scoop on the Living Moments – Lumia Arc of Wonder should have a loop at the second clip too.

“Designed for the Windows 8 mobile platform, the ‘bullet effect’ is a technical first on a mobile device, offering 100% mobility. The result reveals the phones' incredible capabilities for striking, vivid imagery, whilst pushing the boundaries of photography and technology,” Microsoft notes in the video’s description.
