Brian Fargo, the leader of inXile Entertainment, has announced that the upcoming Wasteland 2 will be created using the Unity game engine, which has recently grown in popularity with those developers who are looking for a solid technology to power their browser-based titles.

Despite the usual use for Unity Fargo has made it clear that Wasteland 2 will be a game that requires a local install and will have details and rich graphics that will be clearly superior to those delivered by browser-based video games.

Wasteland 2 will offer players a classic top-down role-playing experience and will be launched on both the PC and the Mac at the same time.

The game was funded via Kickstarter and it has managed to attract more than 3 million dollars (2.32 million Euro) in backing from fans.

Wasteland 2 will be created by inXile with support from the team at Obsidian.
