The upcoming post-apocalyptic role-playing game from inXile Entertainment, Wasteland 2, will be arriving a bit later than initially planned.

Series mastermind Brian Fargo has revealed the sad news in a Kickstarter update, explaining to backers that the game is "likely" to arrive in September instead of August, its initial designated release window.

"Before we get into the fun stuff, a quick note on the release date. It’s pretty likely that we will slip into the first or second week in September due to fulfillment of the physical goods and discs," Fargo informs fans.

Wasteland 2 is one of the huge success stories of the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, raising a hefty $2.9 / €2.16 million during its month-long campaign, and its backers are close to seeing the fruits of their investment.

The game itself is a continuation of the 1988 hit Wasteland, the classic that inspired Interplay's Fallout series, set in a post-apocalyptic America, destroyed by nuclear holocaust several generations before the action takes place, following the remnants of civilization and man's struggle to adapt and survive in the bleak and decrepit husks of its former glory.

The role-playing game is coming to PC, Mac and Linux sometime in September, and will get a proper release date as soon as the developer is pleased with its work, or "as soon as we know it," as Brian Fargo puts it.
