Video game developer Brian Fargo says that the launch date for the Wasteland 2 title is at the moment set for October, a slight delay from the early autumn period that the team at inXile Entertainment was initially targeting.

The developer writes on the official Kickstarter page of the project that, “Of course there is an inherent struggle with the original date hovering despite our greatly increased budget and design. In fact, we learned from this lesson on Torment in adjusting our end date as the monies increased and the stretch goals were met.”

It seems that Wasteland 2 will be the biggest role-playing game that Fargo has ever created, filled with interesting challenges for players.

He also assures fans of the universe that his team has all the resources it needs in order to create all the features announced during the Kickstarter process.

Fargo adds, “As a producer I always find myself in a conflicting role of both pushing on the design and detail to achieve something special yet at the same time keep it on schedule but that is the job. I’m quite pleased with Wasteland 2 from both a graphical and creative aspect; the scope of the game will be quite a surprise for people.”

inXile aims to deliver a version of Wasteland 2 that will include all the core mechanics during the coming month, with feature complete combat, character creation, world map use, loot drops, inventory, radio support, logbook, save games and full AI functionality.

The team plans to test this version of Wasteland 2 and will then evaluate the overall state of the development process before announcing a clearer launch date.

Fargo is also offering fans a first look at the Centron Deluxe Model, a cyborg known from the original game that will return for the sequel.
