The good folks at inXile recently gave beta access to a fair share of their Kickstarter backers for their almost finished Wasteland 2 post-apocalyptic RPG.

However, at fans requests, Brian Fargo and his team decided to offer other players who missed the Kickstarter campaign the chance to join the beta by releasing the game under Early Access category on Steam.

Although it might look outrageous for an Early Access Game to be priced similarly to a triple A title (it happened before, see Planetary Annihilation), know that you will be getting a lot more and will be able to experience Wasteland 2 along with only a fraction of the series' fans.

Beside getting around 30% of the game, those who decide to purchase their way into the beta of Wasteland 2 will also get some digital extras, such as:

- a free copy of Wasteland 1 - The Original Classic; - two digital novellas set in The Wasteland world; - Mark Morgan's Wasteland 2 OST in digital format; - a digital concept art book.

Keep in mind that while the final price of Wasteland 2 will be lower, after the game is released the extras will probably be available for purchase separately, so for the moment they're exclusive to Early Access.

Here is what you will get for Wasteland 2 Early Access and, of course, check out what's still missing and will be added in the following weeks:

“We’re including 30% of the game levels so you can see how Wasteland 2 plays: AI, gear, inventory, creatures, line-of-sight, exploration, world-maps, fast travel, dialogue, and more. Oh yeah: you’ll also get to test out the combat system.

We’ve got a cartload of quests, memorable characters, NPCs who’ll be happy to join your party for a price (or for vengeance), and all the explosive fun of a radioactive monk without any of that actual radiation.

During this early access phase we’ll be adding even more content in the form of new levels, killer weapons and NPCs and of course fixing those pesky bugs that the programmers put in the code. (We keep telling them to stop putting them in because they’re just going to have to take them out later.)

What’s missing? We still have UI to improve on, more skills to add, more player choice, more SFX and of course more areas to explore and we will hone these elements based on your experiences.”

If you've decided to give it a go you should check Wasteland 2 Early Access on Steam. The game is now available for purchase for €44,99 / $59.99.
