Developer inXile relies on their many fans to provide the greater part of the ample effort

inXile Entertainment, maker of the upcoming post-apocalyptic role-playing game Wasteland 2, has just launched a crowdsourcing effort meant to help translate the French, Italian, German and Spanish versions of the game.

The crowdsourced localization project is up on the Wasteland 2 Get Localization page, where anyone can join in and help secure a solid translation for all the grimy action.

Fans will work together with professional editors to fix any errors and inconsistencies found in the translated text.

In addition to this, inXile will have hardcore fans of the role-playing genre join the effort and play the game in their own tongue, thus providing an additional level of feedback, meant to ensure that the final product is on par with the high-quality standard of Wasteland 2.

"This project could never have happened without the crowd, and that's true for this particular effort as well. As the game's script is approaching 500,000 words, localizing becomes an unfathomably large task, and I couldn't imagine tackling it without our fans' help in conjunction with the editors," says Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile Entertainment.

Wasteland 2 is available on Steam Early Access and is scheduled for full release for Windows PC in August.
