It is not his decision, though

Warren Spector, the lead designer of Epic Mickey, said in an interview that a high definition console port of the title was possible, but was not planned at that time. He also said that it was not his decision and that he was quite content with the current arrangements.

Warren Spector has recently declared that an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 port of Epic Mickey may well be possible in the future because of the introduction of motion control on both the high definition home consoles.

The game has been designed around gesturing, as the basic mechanics of drawing and erasing cannot be achieved using a standard gamepad.

Asked by Atomic Gamer if he would agree to a high definition port Epic Mickey, in the case the Wii version was successful, Spector replied that, “Before Move and Kinect I probably would have said no, because the game is built around gesturing.

“Now, however, there's no reason technologically why we couldn't. But that decision is really above my pay grade, and no one's asked me for a port.”

He continued to comment that an Xbox 360 port “could happen. But I've been a Nintendo fan...well, not as long as I've been a Disney fan (laughs), but a long time, and I've been pretty open about the fact that the Zelda games are some of my favorite of all time.

“So we're a Wii exclusive and I'm happy about that.”

Warren Spector is one of the most respected game developers in the industry, as he has designed incredible achievements like Deus Ex and Thief: The Dark Project.

He plans to bring in the same level of quality to Disney Interactive Studios, as Epic Mickey will allow the players' decisions to shape Disney's most iconic figure, a bit like in Deus Ex.

The title is an action platformer with role playing game elements and attempts to re-brand Mickey Mouse, showing the mischievous side of the character's personality.

Epic Mickey will be launched exclusively for the Nintendo Wii sometime in the holiday of this year.
